‘Tis the season for holiday cards! We have several rockin’ designers on our team to help lighten your load around the holidays. Today we get a glimpse into the life and loves of one such designer and what makes the holidays special from her point of view. Say hello to Angela Sandy of Photo Card Boutique.
What’s your favorite holiday food?
Ya know, I can honestly say I don’t have a favorite food. I LOVE it all! The Christmas tradition at our home is one of our home-raised steer served up as prime rib.
What’s your most treasured memory from this time of year?
As a child the only thing I wanted was horse “stuff.” My parents weren’t wealthy and did everything in their power to keep me riding and loving my little palomino named “Crystal.” I will never forget the year we woke up to find a little two horse trailer parked outside the window with a giant bow on it. This became our horse show transportation for years to come.
My second favorite memory also includes a horse. I was 15 and I had been leasing my second horse. I did this thing called grow, you see, and my little 14 hand mare wasn’t fitting the bill anymore. Under the tree was a box full of change. I had to count every last cent of it to find there was enough there for me to purchase my beloved “Sonny.”
What projects, either professional or personal, do you enjoy tackling during the holidays?
For me, the holidays are all about giving and having your family near. I try to instill in my girls the need to help others and to hold your family close. We have lots of family game and movie nights. We also give to people in our community, which is something that makes my heart sing.
If you went out caroling, what songs would you sing?
I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas of course! Isn’t that at the top of everyone’s caroling list?
Do you have any family traditions during the holidays that you just love?
We always make our way down to the Denver Zoo for the zoo lights. This is something the girls have loved doing since they were little. I just love watching their eyes sparkle and the pure joy and innocence in their hearts.
What’s your favorite holiday movie?
Oh there are so many! Probably my most favorite is It’s a Wonderful Life, followed closely by The Santa Clause movies, Elf and Christmas Vacation.
Angela, you bring so much to the Miller’s family. Thank you for your simply sweet designs and for sharing your creative talents with our Design Market. We appreciate you and all you do.
