Perhaps you’re looking to get your orders completed a little earlier this season? Or maybe you just need a creative partner in crime? Miller’s Design Market has your back. We have exclusive templates from some of the best designers in the country. Wendy Morales from Paper Locket is one such designer. Check out her cheery templates and check some orders off your list. But before you get busy, let’s take just a moment to learn what makes the holidays a most wonderful time of year for this rockin’ designer.
What’s your favorite holiday food?
I confess. I overdo it when it comes to the food during the holidays. On Christmas Eve I like to serve hearty appetizers and oyster stew. Then on Christmas morning I get busy after we see what Santa has left us! Our pre-present opening starts with mimosas and monkey bread. Then we hit the baked ham, grilled potatoes, eggs Benedict, & blena (a family recipe that’s similar to crepes).
What’s your most treasured memory from this time of year?
My middle daughter, Morgan, was born on January 6th, 1997. Although, I was worried about the night of December 25th, 1996! This was the night I was released from my five weeks of bed rest, so ready to deliver my baby girl! On that special night, we had a surprise snow storm during which 10+ inches fell on the Seattle streets, and we lived on a steep hill in the city. Back to bed I went.
What projects, either professional or personal, do you enjoy tackling during the holidays?
The holidays are my busiest time at Paper Locket. I get orders from all over the country: repeat clients, their referrals, professional photographers, and retailers. It’s overwhelming and at the same time, super gratifying and exciting. I especially love the fact that I am part of their tradition and that I get to see their families grow over the years! Most of my orders come to me in a personal email, bypassing my shopping cart, stating, “So, this is the photo I have this year, what do you think?” I’m I holiday card consultant. What an honor!
If you went out caroling, what songs would you sing?
So, it’s obvious you haven’t heard me sing! Thankfully, I’m the one serving hot cider.
Do you have any family traditions during the holidays that you just love?
Bottom line, I love tradition! My mom, Nanny Dixie, comes to stay with us. She’s the highlight of our holiday because she lives out-of-town. Of course I plan a week of food and fun when she’s here. It’s family that makes the holiday complete.
What’s your favorite holiday movie?
1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation! We watch it every year, laugh at the same stuff. Quote the same lines. Do we wish we were the Griswolds?
We thank you, Wendy, for being part of our holiday card tradition and for sharing your creative genius with the Miller’s team. We love your most wonderful designs and appreciate all you do.
